What moves your price
The average is a place to start. These things move the price for your own home.
- How close you are to the coast. Homes near the water face more storm risk.
- How old your roof is. An older roof can cost more, and some companies will not take it.
- Wind mitigation credits. Features that help a home stand up to wind, like roof straps and storm shutters, can lower your price. A wind mitigation inspection shows which ones your home has. The state'sMy Safe Florida Home program offers free inspections and grants of up to $10,000 for some upgrades. Check if it is open. Source: My Safe Florida Home, read October 20, 2026
- Your deductible. A higher deductible lowers your price. But you pay more of a claim yourself.
- What your home is worth. A bigger home that costs more to rebuild costs more to insure.
