What is in your kit
- A home inventory. Room by room, with check boxes for photos and receipts.
- Who to call. Each company's claims, service and billing numbers, printed for you.
- Your policies. One spot per policy for your policy number, dates, price and deductibles.
- If you have a claim. The steps to take, and how long you have to report it.
- A claim log. Rows for each call, so you know who said what and when.
- Your renewals. Your renewal months, so you can shop before the price goes up.
You can type into the PDF in most PDF apps, save it, and print it. Nothing you type in the PDF is sent to us.
How to do a home inventory
- Go room by room. Start with the big things, then open closets and drawers.
- Take photos or a slow video of each room. Get the brand and model of big items.
- Note about what you paid and about when you bought it.
- Keep receipts for costly things like TVs, jewelry and tools.
- Save a copy away from home, like in your email, so a storm cannot take it.
A list like this makes a claim faster. Your company will ask what you lost and what it was worth.
Renting? Check Renters above. The same inventory helps with a renters claim.
Want a binder for papers and contacts too? See our free Florida emergency binder. It makes the same kit.
