  1. Demotech affirms its A rating

    Demotech's page for the company shows a Financial Stability Rating of A. That grade is called Exceptional. It was affirmed on September 17, 2026.

  2. OIR approves up to 25,000 more Citizens policies

    OIR's 2025 takeout summary lists Homeowners Choice as approved on October 21, 2025. It could take up to 25,000 Citizens policies: 24,000 multi peril and 1,000 wind only. The number it took is not in the summary.

  3. Takes on about 22,000 Citizens policies

    Homeowners Choice took on about 22,000 policies from Citizens. They had about $101 million in annual premium. This was part of an HCI Group takeout of over 42,000 policies.

  4. Takes about 53,750 policies from Citizens

    Homeowners Choice completed a Citizens takeout of about 53,750 policies in November 2023. OIR's exam report counts about 53,400 policies taken on by year end 2023. That is about $196.8 million in premium.
